The goals
In the 11th minute, Leandro Damião scored a beautiful goal. The No. 9 raced with the ball from midfield, passing three defenders and rushing into the penalty area from the left. The striker passed to Caio, who pushed it straight back to Damião to strike on goal – the ball deflected off both the goalkeeper and a defender before going in. 1 - 0! It would have been Damião’s eighth goal in the State Championship, instead the referee put it down as an own goal by Sidraílson.
In the 36th minute of the second half, Vitor Juníor came on for Airton, and right in his first play the midfielder picked up a low pass from Damião inside the penalty area and scored his second goal for Internacional. D'Alessandro made it 3 - 0 in the 40th minute, off of a penalty kick given for a foul on Otávio, who showed quality play throughout the match.
