Inter’s management featured in Exame magazine

Data: 02/06/2013

The current edition of Exame magazine, one of Brazil’s most important economy publications, features an article on football, more specifically on the strategic planning of Brazilian teams over the last decade. The publication has analyzed the details of winning Brazilian football clubs.

Internacional is mentioned as a good example of management. “However, there is something happening to Brazilian football for some time now. Cases of good management of clubs here and there, with exceptional results, even on the pitch. Relying on bold marketing plans and sound finance, Internacional won the FIFA Club World Cup,” the article emphasizes.

According to Exame, several factors contribute to the optimism experienced by some Brazilian clubs: “Politics is the first factor, as club directors have been noticing that having a minimally organized management helps to win titles and set successors in the next election,” the article highlights. Inter is one of the examples mentioned in the publication, which also points to the long-term planning done by Inter. According to Exame, management practices which are common in larger companies are being adopted by some Brazilian clubs, including Inter.

“The clubs strategies usually change whenever a new president is elected. To avoid these cyclic changes, Internacional has established a long-term plan, until 2019. The goal is to reach 200,000 club members and 500 million real in revenue,” the article reports.
