Internacional forward Diego Forlán had a special night wearing Uruguay’s shirt No 10 this Thursday (June 20th). The player scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory against Nigeria, which secured qualification for the Confederations Cup semi-finals, in a match played at Fonte Nova Arena, Salvador.
Forlán also made his 100th international appearance for Uruguay. Besides being chosen man of the match, the forward also took the match ball home as a gift from Uruguayan Football Association directors to mark this milestone.
In the post-match interview, Forlán recalled the other goal he had scored at Fonte Nova around a month ago, in Inter’s 2-2 draw against Vitória. “I remember it very well. It was a very important match during the first round of the Brazilian Championship. I had the opportunity to score the goal that day and also today. Good! Today it was a very important match too and I’m glad to have scored,” celebrated Colorado’s No 7.
